Separate Shootings Under Investigation In St. Mary's County: Sheriff

It was a violent weekend in St. Mary's County, where the sheriff's office is investigating a pair of shootings that left two with injuries, both in Lexington Park.

The rash of violence began shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, when deputies responded to the 21500 block of Wilcutt Street, where they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his body.

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation of what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The following night, at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, a second investigation was launched in the area of Primrose Willow Lane and Creeping Primrose Lane, where there were reports of shots fired.

Deputies found several shell casings at the scene, but no victim.

Later that night, officials say that a 22-year-old man walked into an area hospital with a reported gunshot wound to his arm, believed to be linked to the crime scene.

No additional details about the second shooting have been released by the sheriff's office.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
